HRTA and CARMA at SciFY Academy: Advancing Innovation in Disaster Response #2

On January 30, 02025, HRTA participated as an invited keynote speaker at the SciFY Academy in Athens during the session “Technology & Natural Disasters #2 | The Role of Innovation and AI”. This intervention followed their initial presentation in October 2024 and provided a deeper exploration of the evolving role of technology in disaster response and Search & Rescue (SAR) operations.

During the event, HRTA presented an overview of the different types of disasters and their unique response requirements, emphasizing how emerging technologies are transforming SAR operations and assisting first responders in real crisis conditions. The discussion highlighted the growing impact of AI and robotics in improving situational awareness, decision-making, and operational efficiency during large-scale emergencies.

As part of the presentation, CARMA was introduced as one of HRTA’s active projects, with insights into its scope, technology, and vision. CARMA’s mission to enhance robotic assistance for first responders was briefly discussed, showcasing how innovation is shaping the future of disaster management.

The CARMA project is pleased to see its partners actively engaged in knowledge-sharing and contributing to the broader discussion on technological advancements in crisis response. By fostering collaboration between researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, we continue to work towards more efficient and resilient emergency response solutions.
